Sales Tax and Transaction and Use Tax (TUT)
 
Since January 1, 2017, the California state sales tax rate has remained at 7.25%.

 

Since 1988 and renewed in 2002, Riverside County Transportation Committee (RCTC) serves as the tax authority and implementation agency for Measure A, a .50% sales tax approved through 2039.

 
Since October 1, 2010, the Cathedral City Transaction and Use Tax (TUT), also known as a District tax, has been 1.00%.

 

Effective April 1, 2025, the Cathedral City Transaction and Use Tax (TUT), also know as a District Tax, increases from 1.00% to 1.50%.

 
As a result, the combined Sales Tax and Transaction and Use Tax  (TUT) for purchases in Cathedral City is 9.25%.
