What is Title VI?
Title VI is a statute provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VI requires that "No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." [42 U.S.C. §2000d]
How does the Public Works Department ensure compliance with Title VI?
As a recipient of federal aid, the Cathedral City Public Works Department is required to prepare and implement a program to clarify roles, responsibilities, and procedures to ensure compliance with Title VI and related statutes. The Public Works Department Title VI Implementation Plan describes elements of the Cathedral City Public Works Title VI Program and provides the policy direction necessary to ensure compliance with Title VI.
The Public Works Department is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participating in, denied the benefits of, or subject to discrimination by any programs and activities. No person shall be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity conducted by the City of Cathedral City Public Works Department, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other category protected by State or Federal law.
Your Rights Against Discrimination
